We traveled west this week for a mini-vacation to celebrate our fourth anniversary. While it was short, we had a wonderful time and packed a lot of adventure in. We visited Grandfather Mountain and crossed the mile high, swinging bridge (we actually paid to do that!), cruised the Blue Ridge Parkway, dined in a number of cool eateries, climbed Linville Gorge to overlook the falls, shopped in Asheville, Blowing Rock and Black Mountain and enjoyed the sunrise and sunset over the mountains. The weather was gorgeous- cool and sunny, a great break from the oppressive heat of our Piedmont home in Wake Forest. Matthew commented a number of times that he could definitely live in the mountains. It was hard to argue with him on that point. Overall, we had a really, really, really good anniversary and we both realized that what they say is true- we really do love each other more now than we did four years ago on our wedding day. I can’t wait for more!

All your photos are fabulous…it looks like this was the perfect way for you guys to celebrate 4 blissfully wonderul years of marriage. I’m with Matthew — I think I could def live in the mountains, too!
VERY COOL and Happy Anniversary! You got some great pictures of you two..we need to get together again soon!
REALLY awesome photos! I’ve never seen a bear and I’ve lived in WNC for 5 years! It sounds like you had a really great time – if you are interested in coming back, I write a blog all about the Asheville area. The company I work for, Carolina Mornings, also has lots of vacation rentals in the area. Take care!
